The Leicester Line is comprised of two canals bought by the Grand Junction Canal 1894 - The Leicestershire & Northamptonshire Union Canal and the ‘Old’ Grand Union Canal. Known as the steepest and longest staircase flight of locks in Britain, Foxton Locks is a Grade II listed site. This canal landmark comprises of two staircases of five locks each that are separated by a canal pound, to allow two boats to pass each other midway.
