Lancaster has plenty to offer for couples, perhaps a show at the Grand Theatre for an evening of entertainment, or the bustle of the vibrant Lancaster Charter Markets. Open Wednesday and Saturday every week, these traditional markets can be found right in the heart of the City Centre. Here you’ll find a range of cooked food, fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods as well as aromatic spices, handmade jewellery, pottery and much more. The perfect place for couples to wander around and collect Lancaster memories.
Rich in history, the Lancaster Castle is one of the most famous historic monuments in the North West. Great for families, the Castle offers a witches’ exhibition, a guided tour around the various castle buildings and entry to the stunning courtyards.
You can get family tickets and free entry for kids under 5 – there is also a café and gift shop to visit and commemorate the visit to Lancaster Castle.
Referred to as one of the many wonders of the waterway, the Lune Aqueduct is hailed as an extraordinary piece of civil engineering. Standing at 53 feet above the River Lune, it carries the canal for 664 feet across the River Lune.
The aqueduct attracts boating enthusiasts both far and wide but, can also be enjoyed on foot – making this an ideal attraction for those looking for something different to do in Lancaster.
