Channel 4 welcome’s back its popular boating programme, Great Canal Journeys, to screens this November. This year, the waterways are explored by brand new boaters – Sheila Hancock and Gyles Brandreth – who embark on spectacular canal journeys across Britain.
Episode 1, titled as ‘London’s Waterways’, showed Sheila and Gyles exploring the upper reaches of the River Thames – a paradise of unspoiled nature, river retreats and royal regattas. This episode aired on Sunday 8th November at 8pm on Channel 4.
However, we’re very excited to announce that the next episode is set to feature a canal boat provided by ABC Boat Hire. During this episode, Sheila and Gyles travel from Aldermaston Wharf on our boat – The Shore Lark – which is a 66ft semi-trad stern narrowboat, and part of our ‘Alvechuch Fleet’.
The episode shows the pair tackling their first manual lock, as well as some extremely tight turns along the waterways! As the episode progresses, Sheila and Gyles relax into life travelling on the Lee Navigation, visiting the Royal Gunpowder Mills on the way.
Episode 2 is due to air on Sunday 15th November at 8pm on Channel 4.
