Alvechurch Marina – Worcestershire

Type: Casual / as and when required – Summer season
Where: Alvechurch Marina, Scarfield Wharf, Alvechurch, Worcestershire, B48 7SQ

To carry out the various duties needed to operate and maintain marina services. Maintain the hire fleet and other managed craft to maximise the life of boats and equipment, and to minimise mechanical failures. Instruct customers in the safe operation of the boat, its equipment and the use of the inland waterways system. To undertake varied works on boats and equipment for private customers.

Type: Full Time, 37.5 Hours/Week

6 Months Fixed Term Contract with possibility of extension, 37.5 hours per week worked over five days out of seven.

Duties to include reception duties and administrative tasks to support the Marina Manager, marina operation, chandlery, retail sales, repairs and brokerage. To maintain work recording and stock recording, ordering and re-ordering as required to maintain the efficient operation of the business.

To be the first point of contact dealing politely and efficiently with phone calls, customers, visitors, and requests for information. Be responsible for ensuring the administrative requirements of the marina are completed accurately and to the time scales required.

Ability to work weekends essential.

To efficiently support the Company’s requirement to control financial expenditure and income. Forecast and control companies cash position. Produce, cost and forecast financial budgets. Ensure management accounts, VAT returns and statutory accounts are completed accurately and legal obligations are met. Contribute towards the development, evaluation and implementation of new products and business opportunities. Knowledge of Sage payroll and support when required. CIMA qualified.

Full time position available, 37.5 hours per week.  Duties to include general marina duties, servicing, fault finding and repair of hire and private canal boats both on and off site.  Applicants should be competent in maintenance and repair of small marine diesel engines, gearboxes, drive systems and other boat equipment such as electrical, plumbing and heating.  Familiarity with inverter mains voltage and LPG Gas systems would be an advantage.  Must be fit, self-motivated and able to deal effectively with customers.  Marina Technicians will be required to provide cover for breakdowns on a rota basis both in and out of normal working hours. Hold a valid UK driving licence (minimum category B) with access to own transport with insurance that covers ‘business use’.  This job is varied requiring flexible working and the ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.  Ability to work weekends essential.
